Pastor Jeff McAffee
Lead Pastor
I’ve been the lead pastor of The Well church since 2010. As a Bible teacher, my fidelity to the Word is one of the most important convictions I carry. As a Spirit-filled Bible teacher, I have the pleasure of leading worship services where the gifts of the Spirit are welcome and find frequent expression. I’m blessed to have a wonderful wife, Kendra, and our kids, Ethan, Anna, and Ella, who fill our hearts with joy. As the lead pastor, my primary responsibility is the preaching and teaching of the Word and leading our weekly worship services. I also teach college, write books, and train ministers.
Pastor Missie Richardson
Associate Pastor and Young Adults' Pastor
Hi, I’m Missie Richardson and I am the Associate Pastor at the Well Church, where I lead the young adults ministry. I am also the director of the Well Family Center, where we provide transformational life coaching and biblical counsel for those who find themselves in a tough season or needing a fresh perspective in life. I am so honored to be able to serve Jesus here at the Well. It’s my heart's desire to help others find their identity in Christ and walk out their kingdom purpose!
Pastor Kendra McAffee
Worship Pastor and Women's Ministry Leader
I am married to Jeff, the lead pastor at The Well. Together we have three amazing children - well they’re not children anymore! I am currently the worship leader and women’s ministries director at The Well. I have served in various ministry positions throughout the years including children’s ministry director, teacher, and worship team member. I am passionate about worshipping Jesus and creating opportunities for people to connect with others and with the Lord.
Pastor Josiah and Bel Goats
Youth Pastors
We have been happily married since 2019 and have one son named Gabriel and a daughter named Sarai. We have been serving at the Well since 2019 and Josiah is currently serving in the Air Force. We both serve as leaders in the Rooted youth group as well as serving together on the worship team. Our passion is to serve, and we love to serve the church as well as others. We love seeing God move through our lives and in others’ lives as well.
Grace Valenzuela
Children's Pastor
I have been volunteering in children’s ministry since I was 12 years old. Through these years I have served in various classes. I have always had a heart to show children the love of Christ and to teach them the authority that they have in Christ, even in their youth. In 2023 I became the children’s ministry director at the Well. I am excited to see all God is doing and going to do in The Well Kids ministry!
Pastors Manuel and Stacy Valenzuela
Young Marrieds' Pastors
We are leading our amazing group of Young Marrieds. We have been at The Well since 2009, when it was at the old location called Parkway. We have been married since 2000 and have 9 children, 2 sons-in-law, and one beautiful granddaughter. I, Manuel, have worked for more than 20 years as a police officer and I, Stacy, have stayed home to raise and homeschool our kids. We served for many years as youth pastors and have a soft spot for today’s teenagers and young adults. As those young adults enter into married life, we are thrilled to be able to share our love for God’s beautiful plan and design for marriage.
Vern and Debbie Thacker
Seniors' Ministry Leaders
We are Dr. Thacker and Debbie and we have been in the Church of God since the 1960s. Vern served in the US Army as a Medic and then the Army Nurse Corp. as a trauma nurse during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. We acted as Servicemen Fellowship Directors while serving in Japan where we visited and prayed with the servicemen during their hospital stays following their tour of duty in VietNam. We also served as Youth Pastors in Ohio and as Bible teachers in Colorado and Maryland. We then Pastored Churches in Ohio, Arizona, and Oklahoma. At the Well Church of God, we serve as coordinators of the Senior Ministry and also substitute as Bible teachers on Wednesday evenings. Dr. Thacker is also an assistant professor at Grand Canyon University, where he teaches online in Health Care Professionals and Professional Nursing Programs.
Travis and Violet Ward
Community Outreach Ministry Leaders
I, Travis, grew up in Iowa and after high school I joined the United States Marine Corps. In 2012, I found my faith when I was unexpectedly called by God to attend Grand Canyon University to earn a bachelor’s degree. Since 2020, I've been an active member of The Well Church, and I have served on the Board of Trustees since 2021. I, Violet, had an early pursuit of Jesus, starting at age 7. I grew up in the church as a pastor’s kid and have been involved in many different ministries over the years. Through life struggles, I was able to search out my own faith and decided to re-dedicate my life in 2013. We married in 2015 and have three wonderful children, Amelia, Natalie, and Gregory. We love helping others and being a part of community outreach, so we have partnered with Chaparral elementary to serve the school and community needs.
Matt and Lynette Hinson
Well Fed Ministry Leaders
I, Matt, was born in Flagstaff, but I have lived in the Phoenix area for over 30 years. I am the Vice President of Pricing for Abilene Motor Express, a Knight-Swift Company. I, Lynette, was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. I work full time for CVS Health as a medical biller. We have been married for 19 years, and we have four daughters and two grandchildren. We have been members of the Well Church for over 3 years. We lead the Well Fed ministry, coordinating meals for church member families in need.
Alex Hathaway
Greeters' Ministry Leader
Hello, I am Alex Hathaway. I have been going to the Well for about two years, and I have learned more about God than I ever have before. On most Sundays you will find me in the back of the church greeting everyone as they walk in, as I am the leader of the Greeters ministry as well as the connections ministry. I know you will love the Well as much as I do.
Ed and Vickie Barnes
Intercessory Prayer Ministry Leaders
We are Ed and Vickie Barnes. We met and married in Oklahoma 43 years ago before moving to Phoenix in 1988. We have a daughter, a son, and two grandchildren. I, Ed, have been licensed since January 1995 and ordained since 1996 with the Pentecostal Evangelical Church of God. We have worked and helped in ministry in several churches. We have taught all classes including children, teens, youth, and singles. We have also taught adult and Wednesday night Bible studies. I, Ed, was also the Interim Pastor of Hope City Church for two years. We came to the Well in October of 2022 after Vickie had a kidney transplant. We have become members and work at the altars when needed. We have also started the Intercessory Prayer Group and meet every Monday to pray for the needs of our church and community.

Church Treasurer and Accountant
I have been attending The Well Church for over two years, and I am currently serving as the church treasurer. I am a CPA and currently run my own practice serving individuals and small businesses. I have two adult sons, John, who is married to his wife Brittany, and Matthew.
Emily Mattison
Administrative Assistant
Hi! My name is Emily and I’m the administrative assistant at the Well Church. I started working at the Well in September 2023 when God opened the door for me and I have loved it ever since! I was born and raised in Phoenix and have an associate’s degree in fashion design. I first came to the Well in January of 2022 and I have gotten to encounter God so closely and to truly fall in love with Him. The Well has become like a second family to me and I have created so many close friendship bonds that have impacted me so greatly.
